Select Footage and Video Conversion

The Select Footage panel prepares video or image sequences before tracking. It can convert videos to numbered PNG sequences, downscale large image sequences, and keep source footage organized for Quick, Heavy, Dense, Mesh, and Batch workflows.

Workflow steps

  1. Choose a video file or image sequence folder.
  2. Use the converter to create a numbered PNG sequence when starting from video.
  3. Use step rate 1 for accurate camera tracking, and downscale only when speed matters.
  4. Let MotionMaster 3D use the generated sequence folder for the next tracking operation.

Important details

MotionMaster 3D relies on image sequences for reliable tracking and reconstruction. The converter uses FFmpeg and creates a separate sequence folder so the original media is preserved.

Downscaling is useful for 4K or 1440p footage when you need faster tests. The YouTube workflow shows a 4K clip converted to 1080p for faster tracking while preserving the original footage as the high-quality source reference.

Quick Tracking

Quick Tracking is the fast realtime tracking mode. It is best for rapid previews, testing footage, and getting a practical sparse camera solve when the footage and camera intrinsics are suitable.

Heavy Tracking

Heavy Tracking is the primary high-quality workflow for more reliable camera reconstruction. It is the right starting point when the shot needs strong solve quality, dense point clouds, mesh generation, masks, undistortion, or advanced settings.

Batch Processing

Batch Processing lets MotionMaster 3D run repeated tracking and reconstruction operations across multiple sequences. It is designed for larger jobs where several shots need the same kind of processing.
