Heavy Tracking

Heavy Tracking is the primary high-quality workflow for more reliable camera reconstruction. It is the right starting point when the shot needs strong solve quality, dense point clouds, mesh generation, masks, undistortion, or advanced settings.

Workflow steps

  1. Prepare footage in the Select Footage or Batch panel.
  2. Choose a simple preset or custom Heavy mode.
  3. Enable zoom or rotated footage settings only when the shot needs them.
  4. Enable masks when moving objects should be ignored or isolated.
  5. Enable undistortion and dense output when the shot needs dense reconstruction.
  6. Run Autotrack Heavy and monitor progress.

Important details

Heavy Tracking uses COLMAP, a CUDA-oriented GLOMAP build, and OpenMVS-related reconstruction tools. It handles feature extraction, matching, mapping, camera reconstruction, optional undistortion, dense point clouds, and mesh generation.

Presets cover fast, balanced, heavy, and extreme style use cases. Custom mode exposes deeper reconstruction settings for difficult footage.
